Challenge
Replacement of legacy banking application and data migration of a large international bank

Solution
The project is to replace the existing BankMaster system with eBBS for the strategic business objectives like (1)Cover future business requirements ,(2)To provide rich functionality and reduce manual processes.

The detailed Gap-Analysis was done to map the requirements and the one existing in the current system. Based on this a detailed estimation was done and the project was approved. The major activities are Customization and additional functionalities like tax, mid period interest application, etc, Data Migration, Interfaces, migration of source WebSphere 3.5.6 to WebSphere 5.0(J2EE 1.3 conforming) source. The major cost saving exercise was to port the branch servers to WAS Express and Apache Tomcat server.

The data from the old banking system needs to be moved from the RPG based system(BBS) to eBBS. This is an extensive operation to convert data extracted from AS/400 stored by RPG programs. Every file extracted should be read validated and then pumped to the new system. After every data conversion the details have to be reported to the business users in detail including errors and warnings. After the users confirm the data integrity, the next set of data is converted. Trial balances and recon reports are checked at every level of conversion. Once the new system acts on the data, corresponding reports are validated by the business for functional similarity
