Entertainment Industry – Digital Ticketing System

Technology
C++ Development and Windows, SmartCards

Challenge
Ability to provide smart cards which the consumers can buy of any local store and use them to purchase tickets for concerts, games etc.

Solution
The purpose of this project is to provide a ticketless entry for any event. This is achieved by the use of IC cards And Mobile Phone. These IC cards stores the ticket information, which are read by IC Read/Write device.

There are two types of IC cards namely, Contact and Non-Contact IC Cards. There are three types of Non-Contact IC Cards available viz., Type A, Type B and Type C. The IC cards contain information about the type of the card, event date, number of events etc.

Audience who wish to get admittance to any event need to carry these IC cards which will be authenticated at the gates of the Auditorium by the system. After performing the validation, invalid cards are rejected. The system prevents double usage of any card. This means that a card used once, cannot be used by another person to gain admittance to the match. Malfunction of the IC Read/Write device will be prompted to the System Administrator, and alternatively ticketing personnel will enter the details about the card on to an alternate system to ensure admittance to authorized users. Any exceptional situations will also be intimated to the system administrator.

     SMARCARD is for validating the TYPE B card in which JICSAP standards are followed
MACRO is For Validating TYPE B Card in which NTT Standards are followed.
FELICA is for validating the TYPE C card in which SONY standards are followed.
MOBILE phone will be loaded with i-Appli, which will communicate with the Server Application in PC using irOBEX protocol. Servers will retrieve the data and authenticate or validate the ticket by GET or PUT operation.

The events are performed throughout Japan in different stadiums. Files are initially stored in ETC (Electronic Ticketing System) server. ETC stores all the files for all the stadiums in Japan. Based on the requirement the files will be download and uploaded between ETC and Stadium server. Files related to particular event will be downloaded/uploaded between Stadium Server and gate terminal.
